About Krystal

Overview

Krystal Morin (she/her) is a New England-based conductor, singer, and educator who is passionate about leading singing experiences rooted in empowerment, co-creation, culturally responsive pedagogy, community building, and interdisciplinary story telling.

ARTISTIC

conducting & artistic leadership

Krystal is Associate Director of Choirs for Boston Children's Chorus where she leads ensembles, mentors teaching assistants and part-time artistic staff, and contributes to artistic and educational programming. Krystal is a singer, artistic leader, and leadership team member for VOICES 21C, a Boston-based artists collective dedicated to exploring divergent choral practices and social justice topics. With VOICES 21C, Krystal develops long-form narrative driven programs, imaginative staging, improvisation based arrangements, and educational and community collaborations. 

 

Previously, she was the founding music director of the NH based youth choir Second Generation Manchester Choral Society and served as the assistant music director for Manchester Choral Society.

Krystal also worked as the choral manager for New Hampshire Music Festival, and served on the board of the NH Chapter of the American Choral Directors’ Association.

Additionally, Krystal serves on the leadership team for The Choral Commons. 

SINGING

Krystal is an active choral singer who has appeared with various ensembles including New Hampshire Master Chorale, Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, and et al. Previously, Krystal has made appearances as a guest soloist with Acton Community Chorus, Music on Norway Pond Festival Singers, Salisbury Singers, Unitarian Universality Church of Greater Lynn, and First Parish Church of Stow and Acton.

 

Krystal also teaches private voice, previously at Manchester Community Music School in Manchester, NH and currently maintains a private virtual studio offering lessons to students of all age ranges and abilities

EDUCATION

teaching & educational background

Krystal works as part of Boston University's Prison Arts Initiative co-teaching collaborative arts courses using the Empowering Song approach alongside André de Quadros in facilities throughout the greater Boston area.  

Previously, Krystal taught music at Boston Green Academy, where she established and grew a brand new music program for the 6-12 school from 2021-2023. Krystal also led five choral ensembles and general music courses at ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough, NH from 2012-2019. 

Krystal completed her Master's in Choral Conducting at Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying conducting with George Case and voice with Kevin Wilson. She completed her B.S. in Music Education at Plymouth State University where she studied conducting with Dan Perkins, voice with Amanda Munton, and piano with Carleen Graff.
